When Sonia originally interviewed Alec we were all so in awe of her work, later she agreed to join our little group and has added so much to our circle. We are so incredibly lucky to have such a talented, emotive artist in our little family. Welcome Alec!
You can Find Alec on Facebook and at her Website.
What is your favorite quote? “Run outside during a thunderstorm That downpour, that conquered hesitation, that exhilaration That’s what unlonely is like” — Rumi
What inspired you to pick up your camera initially? Im not sure if I remember why I picked up a camera in my youth, but today it is because I want to remember. I want to remember everything. Sometimes my camera feels like a natural extension of my self, maybe I depend on that connection too much. 😉 Growing up, I relished going through old boxes of family photographs, picking out my favorites and hearing stories about the moments captured so long ago. Now, I hope to give those same memories and moments to my children.
Can you tell me three words to describe your own work? What I feel from my own work is; emotive, real.
How did you find your style? I think my style found me. I have been taking photographs for years, but only the past couple of years have been a whirlwind of learning and growing.
A secret weapon. Tell me a piece of advice that has helped you. I would tell you, but then I would have to kill you 😉
No but really, my secret is that I keep taking photographs, I continue to learn and be inspired by what is around me everyday.
What is your favorite time to shoot? Anytime. Although light is essential, it is not always necessary to catch the right moment.
Who is your favorite photographer, living or dead? These questions are so hard! I am inspired by so many incredible artists daily. But Sally Mann and Alain Laboile are up there.
What’s always in your camera bag? My mirrorless Sony A6000, iphone and extra batteries.
If you had all the money in the world, what would you do? Travel with all of my family and friends 😉
Black&white or color? Both. Black and white gives me all the feels, but color can just be an incredible tool to know and master.
